Feedback from Knit Campers:
"It was a perfect balance, allowing for whatever was needed to nurture myself."
"The best part was being able to choose how I wanted to spend my time. There was no pressure to attend all sessions. I had lots of alone time which was perfect for my needs!"
"Some of the best food I've eaten, prepared and served with so much tenderness."
"The quiet and peace of the camp, connecting with people, plants and animals. Swimming, canoeing...all of it."
"Stargazing and giggling!"

We hosted Knit Camp 2025, at the Appalachian Mountain Club's Medawisla Lodge, north of Greenville, Maine. It sits on the edge of Second Roach Pond and is surrounded by pristine forests, miles of gravel roads for biking or walking, and hiking trails. There's no cell service or WiFi at the camp — and no digital connection meant plenty of time to connect with each other, our beloved craft, and the beauty all around us.
This gorgeous facility was renovated in 2017 and includes a main lodge, cabins, and bunkhouses right in the heart of Maine's North Woods. Medawisla is designated as a National Dark Skies Park, and they've even got comfy stargazing chairs that recline!
When Iris and Isla scouted this location in the winter, we were blown away by the hospitality provided by the staff, the quality of the meals (with delicious options for all dietary needs), and the sparkling clean facilities. The other guests were friendly outdoorsy types (like us!), we discovered several of the staff were also crafty folks, and we enjoyed the lecture on winter birds by a guest naturalist. We just knew we wanted to bring a group here in summer.
Some highlights of Knit Camp 2025 included...
Time in nature... Quiet mornings at the dock, watching the mist flowing over the pond. Hiking to the swimming beach — getting nice and sweaty before a dunk. Moose watches at dawn and dusk. Knitting and s'mores at the campfire, watching the full moon rise. Observing the loons and other waterfowl. Solo kayaking at sunset. Discovering the staff's favorite swimming hole!
Workshop sessions... Optional workshops included a color theory in nature session, introduction to brioche, intro to walking and knitting, and guided mindful knitting.
Fun surprise no.1 ... Two of our Campers generously shared their knowledge of botany and herbalism with the group. Their wisdom was a welcome enrichment on our hikes.
Fun surprise no. 2 ... S'mores at the campfire with a beautiful moonrise! And one of our clever Campers saved her chocolate chip cookies from lunch for a truly next level S'mores experience!
Fun surprise no. 3 ... Seeing a moose! As Isla and Iris were heading out for one last hike, we spotted a moose cooling off in a marshy part that flows out of the Pond. We watched as he or she hopped up and trotted off into the woods.

Just like at summer camp, Knit Camp was a welcome reset and an opportunity to forge new friendships, reconnect with our joy, and take nourishment from our beautiful surroundings.
Maybe you'll join g2k for Knit Camp next year!
